Founded in late 2013, The Harker Podcast Network gathers influencers from the Harker and Silicon Valley community to share their experiences and insights in a series of podcasts. Each month, our team selects and invites speakers to come to the Harker campus, and we record a podcast episode with them. Then, we edit, produce, and promote these episodes through social media outlets and school meetings.
While the Harker Business & Entrepreneurship program sponsors the series, guests come from a variety of professional backgrounds.
We have received generous support from both the administration and Office of Communication, and the official team consists of four students and one faculty advisor.
Enya Lu: Executive Producer
A junior, Enya Lu serves as the Executive Producer for the Harker Podcast Network, and this is her second year in Podcast. Aside from HPN, she actively competes in DECA, specializing in financial events, and serves on the Harker DECA and Academic Decathlon teams. She also works as a private tutor. During the summer, she taught writing and business at Breakthrough Silicon Valley to local 8th graders. In the future, she would like to continue being active in both business and education, though she is still exploring her interests through various classes and activities. Enya is painfully aware of her overinvestment in k-pop, but she is still saving up for the day kpop acts stop ignoring the bay area.
Evan Cheng: Public Relations Manager
Evan is a sophomore serving as the Public Relations Manager for the Harker Podcast Network. In addition to HPN, Evan is also involved in playing percussion in the school orchestra, running on the cross country team, and competing in DECA. Outside of school, he enjoys watching baseball, singing in both choir and a cappella groups, and reading about business and technology.
Sunny Jayam: Production Engineer
Larissa Tyagi: Production Assistant
Larissa is an assiduous sophomore at The Harker School with a passion for business. On campus, she can be frequently spotted leading various business clubs including Harker DECA and Harker Business Podcast and playing varsity golf. She enjoys the social media marketing aspect of business, and endorses clubs through this powerful platform. Currently, she is interested in retail, specifically fashion, and art industries. Off campus, she participates in competitive ballroom dancing.
Michael Acheatel: Advisor
Michael Acheatel teaches in the Business and Entrepreneurship Department at Harker. In addition to advising the Harker Podcast Network, he advises the Harker Incubator, the Harker DECA chapter, CareerConnect, TEDx, and BEcon. His background is in startup business consulting, having helped over 150 startups launch and/or raise capital. Over the summer, he launched the Harker Incubator where he helped 2 student entrepreneurs grow their businesses. He also spent time travelling with his wife and new baby who was born in May 2017. A fun fact about him is that he went bungee jumping on the highest bungee in the world and cage dove with great white sharks on the same day.
